I am a PI for a HRSA/BHWET grant and we were able to secure a  a post doctoral scholar for the counseling psychology program at the University of Iowa. The post doc's effort is a 40% research, 40%teaching, 20% clinical service so it essentially allows for someone to develop and expand their research area in behavioral health psychology (rural populations).

Position
A position for a Postdoctoral Scholar in counseling psychology is open in the Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations for the area of behavioral health psychology. This scholar will conduct research and provide instruction in the areas of (a) health psychology (b) working with underserved rural populations (c) interdisciplinary behavioral health and provide clinical supervision of practicum students. This position is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under the Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Professional
Track, Grant titled: Integrating Behavioral Health into Rural Medicine,  M01HP31359-01-00

Education Requirement
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in counseling or clinical psychology, or a closely related field.



Required Qualifications

Completed an APA accredited Ph.D. program and internship



License eligible as a psychologist in Iowa

Relevant interest, experience, or scholarship in integrated behavior health issues in rural areas (e.g. rural substance use, rural psychology, rural underserved populations, etc).


Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.



Willingness to take on leadership and supervision roles.



Excellent written and verbal communication skills.



Desirable qualifications

Experience in teaching and supervision in the area of health psychology.


Clinical experience with veterans or rural underserved populations.
Salary and Benefits

Appointment
Twelve-month appointment beginning August 15, 2018. Position may be funded through May 2020.
