TITLE: Teaching Assistant, .49 FTE
FALL, WINTER, SPRING 2017-18


These appointments are appropriate for doctoral students in Counseling Psychology. These positions involve teaching undergraduate courses offered through the Counseling Psychology program. Course content areas may include but are not limited to: Introduction to Counseling Psychology, Health Psychology, Social Justice & Psychology, Careers in Psychology and Human Services, Positive Psychology, and Foundations of Student Health and Well-being.

Responsibilities:

  *   Collaborating with training director to identify course topics
  *   Researching and developing materials
  *   Preparing syllabi and teaching materials
  *   Identifying course timing to maximize enrollments
  *   Recruiting students for these classes
  *   Grading, testing, and all other tasks associated with delivery and evaluation of the classes
  *   Demonstrating commitment to continuous improvement of teaching
  *   Maintaining consistent communication regarding the classes with the
  *   Counseling Psychology faculty supervisor
  *   Additionally, assist with CPSY program-related tasks associated with interview weekend organization, prevention science admissions, program evaluation tasks, and other program tasks as requested by training director

Qualifications:

  *   Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  *   Flexibility, excellent organization and detail management
  *   Commitment to teaching excellence
  *   Familiarity with teaching content areas as well as college student development
  *   Familiarity with all relevant teaching and academic policies

Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Doctoral student in Counseling Psychology
