Hi Krista and Ellen, just throwing this idea out.  In addition to inviting both of you and all Lane County Psychologists to this important meeting, I am aware that you usually have students who are interested in the policy side of counseling and mental health.  This meeting could be a great potential learning experience about how psychologists attempt to have input into mental health policy decisions. Hi Lane County Psychologists,

As you may know, Governor Kate Brown has proposed closing the State hospital in her new budget.  At the December meeting, Jon Davies graciously took the lead in getting more information about this plan.
He has contacted our state representative Phil Barnhart, who is also concerned about this closing and wants to meet with us. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the proposal, express our opinions, and gain insight into the political process as it relates to making decisions about mental health policy.

The meeting is this coming Monday, January 30th at 5:15pm at The Center of Community Counseling. The Center is located across from the Safeway store on Coburg and next to the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in an old house. There is ample, free parking. The address is 1465 Coburg Road in Eugene.

Please let us know if you are planning to come or have any questions. If you don't get around to RSVPing and still want to come, there should be room for you.
