cpsylist: MEETING CANCELED & TAKING ACTION
Student Advocacy & Leadership

Dear CPSY Family,
The past few weeks have been difficult, to say the least. It is no exaggeration to state that the level of stress we were already experiencing as grad students, human beings, and some of us as members of communities long since targets of hate and violence, has been significantly magnified by what is happening in our country. Our current political climate has impacted our diverse brothers and sisters, family members and communities. Now more than ever we need to come together.
As researchers and clinicians in training, we are charged with staying abreast of the political climate as it directly impacts our clients and work. As activists and healers, we are charged with speaking up and using our voice to help empower those that are being targeted and harmed. All of this requires us to work to be whole people and to take time to care for one another and also ourselves.
We felt it was important to share some of the resources we have come across that are helping us balance staying informed and taking action with self-care. As events come up, we will share them on the SALA Facebook group page, and the SALA corner in the student lounge in HEDCO. Please help us along by letting us know of events we may have missed or any resources that could be helpful to us all.
Our general membership meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow Thursday 02/16/17 will be canceled and reschedule for the following Thursday 02/23/2017. As some of you may know it is important for us to honor our stance as a Social Justice focused program and organization and to take a stand when our students are under attack. Tomorrow is a national day of action #DayWithoutImmigrants, because of this we will cancel our meeting and not make our members whom are caught in between their identities, and responsibilities choose but instead take a stand with them.
If you would like to further support this efforts see the attached flyer. We understand not everyone can participate in the same way but challenge all of you to do what you can.
