I hope you're all staying cool today! If you're applying this fall, please
see the announcement below. I'm on vacation so I won't be forwarding
anything else until early September--be sure you're receiving MATCH NEWS.
While we're on the subject now is a great time to complete a good draft of
the API, including your hours and essay drafts, and to contact letter
writers if you haven't already.

APPIC MATCH NEWS
---

Following is Match registration information for applicants, internship
programs, and doctoral programs:

*APPLICANTS:*

Applicants who are applying to internship programs that participate in the
APPIC Match must register for the Match and receive a unique, five-digit
Applicant Code Number in order to participate in the Match. Please note
that APPIC Match registration is a completely separate process from the
AAPI Online registration -- in other words, applicants must register
separately for *both* the AAPI Online *AND* the APPIC Match.

*Significant changes in applicant eligibility rules* have been implemented
for the 2018 APPIC Match and Post-Match Vacancy Service. More information
may be found here:

2018 Match eligibility: http://www.appic.org/Match/
About-The-APPIC-Match/Match-Overview#MatchEligibility
2018 PMVS eligibility: http://www.appic.org/Match/
About-The-APPIC-Match/Match-Overview#PMVSEligibility

*It is imperative for applicants, during the Match registration process, to
accurately identify their doctoral program.* If you are not certain
whether the program type, degree sought, and Director of Clinical Training
(DCT) as shown in the registration system accurate identify your academic
program, please check with your DCT before completing the Match
registration. Only students from eligible doctoral programs (listed on the
National Matching Services [NMS] web site at natmatch.com/psychint, see
"Eligible Doctoral Programs") may participate in the Match. If your school
or doctoral program does not appear in the NMS list, please follow the
instructions provided on that page on the NMS web site under the link "What
if a school or doctoral program does not appear in this list?"

Applicants register for the APPIC Match online at:

natmatch.com/psychint

(Select the "Get Started" button for applicants on the home page, then
select the link to "Register for the Match")

Before you register, please review the information available on the Match
web site, including the APPIC Match Policies, the Applicant Agreement, the
Schedule of Dates, and other information describing the operation of the
Match.

It is recommended that eligible applicants register for the Match by
December 1, 2017, although registrations can be accepted after that
date. *Please
remember that the Match registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and is not
transferable to future Matches*; thus, if you aren't yet sure that you will
be participating in the Match, it may be advisable to delay your Match
registration until that decision has been made. Match registrations that
occur on or after January 1, 2018 must be explicitly authorized in writing
by your DCT.

Please note that, while it is helpful to sites to include your Applicant
Code Number on your AAPI, it is not required, and there are other ways for
internship programs to easily obtain your Applicant Code Number.

*INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS:*

Match registration instructions have been sent by e-mail (as a PDF file
attachment) to Training Directors of all APPIC-member internship programs,
as well as to some non-APPIC member programs that may be interested in
participating in the 2018 Match. The e-mail sent to each site contains a
unique link for the training site that must be used to launch the online
registration process for that site.

Internship programs should complete the online registration process by
August 25, 2017, as indicated in the registration materials. Once the
registration process is complete, a confirmation will be sent to the
Training Director by e-mail.

If you are an internship Training Director (i.e., the person who oversees
all training activities, programs and/or tracks at the internship site) and
have not received the registration e-mail for your site, please check your
e-mail program's "spam" or "junk mail" folder to see if the e-mail was
directed there. If you did not receive the registration e-mail, contact
NMS directly at psychint at natmatch.com or (800) 461-6322 to arrange for NMS
to send you the registration materials.

*DOCTORAL PROGRAMS:*

Academic programs do NOT register directly with NMS for the Match. APPIC
will identify to NMS all doctoral programs that are active APPIC Doctoral
Program Associates and eligible to send students into the Match. Directors
of Clinical Training will be able to obtain regularly updated lists of
students who are registered for the Match along with reports of their
students' results for both Phase I and Phase II of the Match.
