Hello all,
Please see the email listed below about an opportunity to join the
Social Justice Theater Group Rehearsals for Life. It is a great student
group that I have been a member of for the past 2 years and I cannot say
enough great things about it. The group is a lot of fun and a great
venue through which we are able to discuss difficult topics. If you
have any questions about the group please contact myself or the group
leader, Abigail Leeder, and we would be happy to share any information
we have.
Hope everybody is ready for the new school year!
Best,
Steve

> "Rehearsals for Life" is a project of the Office of the Dean of
> Students and the UO Graduate School. Utilizing scenario-based learning
> founded on the model of Theatre of the Oppressed and other applied
> theatre modalities, students develop interactive presentations for the
> campus community.
>
> * Use your creativity to further issues of diversity, equity and
> access on campus
>
> * Enhance your conflict resolution, facilitation and role-play skills
>
>
> * Help generate solutions for the complex problems facing our

>
> Both peer education and interactive scenario based presentations are
> being recognized nationally for the valuable role they can play in
> shaping campus culture and in generating solutions to complex issues.
> Throughout history theatre has been used as a tool for social change
> and can provide a valuable springboard for important dialogues. As the
> complexities of our world increase and the pressures facing students
> mount, it is important that we continue to find innovative ways to
> meet and address these needs.
>
> WHO WE ARE SEEKING: We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and
> creative individuals who have an interest in social justice and a
> desire to contribute to the campus community in innovative ways. No
> prior theater experience is required, although students must be
> willing to learn and be comfortable in front of groups.
>
> TIME COMMITMENT: Approximately 2-4 hrs per week beginning Fall Term.
> We are looking for students willing to commit for an entire academic
> year. Participants receive a small stipend for participation each
> term.
