<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">In addition to the Career and Tenure Track Faculty promotional policy work that is currently underway in the College of Education (thank you to those
committees!), we wanted to note that as a college, we will also be engaging in updating the Curriculum Policy this academic year. Like many of our other COE policies, the 2017 Curriculum Policy is in need of several critical updates to ensure its ongoing alignment
with our values, practices, goals, and needs. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"> Unlike other policies in the COE that may require the convening of an ad hoc committee for policy updates, the curriculum policy names the Curriculum
Committee as the lead committee on policy changes and updates. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;margin-left:.5in">
<span style="font-size:11.0pt"> <b>Curriculum Policy Page 1</b><i>: The [Curriculum] committee is tasked with periodic review of, and proposed revisions to, the existing COE curriculum policies. To the extent appropriate and necessary, the committee shall draft
new policies and procedures responsive to changes in other University and COE policies, program and course requirements, curricular practices, and related administrative structures.</i></span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;margin-left:.5in">
<b><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Curriculum Policy Page 7:</span></b><i><span style="font-size:11.0pt"> Since the COE Curriculum Committee serves as the “department” for approval of all new college-wide courses (EDUC), these should be submitted to the COE

<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">For this year’s activities, which began this Fall 2025 and will extend into Winter and Spring 2026, the Curriculum Committee (under Chair of Angie
Whalen) and EDUC advisory committee (under Chair of George Harrison) will be compiling suggested edits over the course of their activities to create a cohesive first draft of a policy which will be reviewed by Edward Olivos, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs,
and submitted to COE faculty for review, feedback, and vote consistent with other COE policies.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Our current estimates place the initial draft policy coming to faculty for a first vote in Spring (April 2026), this allows time for further edits
and a second vote if needed.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
