<p class="MsoNormal">There is a lot I could write about today, but what I want to share in this moment is gratitude. I feel grateful to be working with strong, committed, and talented faculty and staff in the College of Education. I’ll give a few highlights.

<li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo3">You may not know this, but you have an outstanding – first in class – development team in the College of Education.
<b>Esther Harclerode, Andrea Olson, and Laura King</b> have been so impressive to work with and they really have done impressive work outlining fundraising priorities for students and faculty. They recently developed a “Making the Case” presentation to give
to University Advancement, literally making the case for why people should give to the College of Education and they raised the bar for excellence. Our colleagues in University Advancement shared that our COE Team raised the bar and set the standard for development
work across the university. Go Esther, Andrea, and Laura!<b><o:p></o:p></b></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo3"><b>Lisa Fortin</b> made a positive impression on our prospective undergraduate Stamps Scholar semifinalists when they were on campus and Lisa gave them a tour and spoke about our
COE and academic opportunities within the college. Thanks also to Lisa for stepping up while we search for a new facilities manager.

new faculty are an impressive group and engaged in meaningful and thoughtful dialogue with the Community Diversity Advisory Board.

</b>Associate Dean for Research in the COE has done an excellent job communicating with central offices as the federal cuts to research has been an evolving story. At this time the COE hasn’t experienced cuts to our funding portfolio; however, this is a rapidly
evolving situation.<b><o:p></o:p></b></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo3"><b>Jeanine Brush
</b>testified in front of the Oregon legislature on a bill that provide funding for an overnight AAC camp (see below for more details).<b><o:p></o:p></b></li></ul>

of Teaching Policy for the College and we believe marks an improvement in our prior practice. Most of our academic departments have already begun the process of transitioning to this policy for the 2024 – 2025 AY and will be providing feedback on implementation

with Representative Courtney Neron to develop House Bill 3053. This bill would provide the CDS program with $40,000 to develop a pilot program training graduate-level students who are learning to become speech-language pathologists to use a family-centered
approach when serving children with augmentative and alternative communication needs in a traditional overnight summer camp setting. Jeanine testified yesterday, February 11, in support of the bill to the House Committee on Higher Education and Workforce Development.
