<p class="MsoNormal">Happy August! This has been a busy summer and I’m so pleased to highlight many of the activities that you’re engaging in. The halls and classrooms of HEDCO (especially HEDCO 220!) have been full of
<b>UOTeach</b> students and faculty and I have enjoyed seeing some of our training programs in action. I appreciate and honor the important work of all of our COE educator prep programs (UOTeach, SPED, and EI) and deeply value this work. Preparing future educators
is essential to our mission. I know there is always a big lift from faculty and staff that support our licensure programs and wish to acknowledge
<b>Zeni Colorado-Resa</b> and team for their commitment to working with programs, licensure coordinators, and our district partners.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The <b>HEDCO Clinic</b> has also been bustling this summer with
<b>Couples and Family Therapy (CFT)</b> and <b>Communication Disorders and Sciences (CDS)</b> faculty and students delivering services to our community. Beyond these programs that have full-time summer offerings, I wish to thank and acknowledge all our faculty
and staff who are involved in summer work that supports our students! I see you. You matter. I know you’re not on “break”. You are busy working to support our programs and students and I love your energy and commitment to this work.

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">For those faculty (and staff) involved in sponsored research, you know that IES finally issued their RFAs for their NCER and NCSER applications (due 9/21; letter of intent due 8/10).
<a href="https://ies.ed.gov/funding/">Institute of Education Sciences: Funding Opportunities</a> . Sponsored research is such a big part of our COE identity and accelerates our impact and provides tangible avenues to promote equity and inclusion. I have enjoyed
some small work group sessions this summer where we are thinking strategically about ways to enhance our research footprint, support faculty/staff/students in their work, and build bridges to serving our communities. Although U.S. Department of Education (and
IES, in particular) is often our bread and butter, I recognize that our faculty are increasingly competing for NIH, NSF, and prestigious foundation funding. This is critical work and essential to our mission.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">You’ve heard me speak about enhancing our <b>climate</b> and
<b>promoting belongingness</b> in our College. This work will extend to the upcoming year, along with several other strategic priorities, including:<o:p></o:p></p>
