<p class="MsoNormal">Along with the usual reminders about the ways I can offer support this term, I wanted to share a couple of important changes related to requesting library materials.

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As you may know, the UO Libraries, in partnership with librarians from Oregon State University and Portland State University, have been negotiating with the academic company and publisher Elsevier since Spring 2022. Despite extensive negotiations,
the three institutions have been unable to come to an agreement with Elsevier and our contract has lapsed as of January 1, 2023 (see the latest updates on the
<a href="https://library.uoregon.edu/relx_deal">UO Libraries’ Elsevier Contract Negotiations page</a>). While there are plans to resume negotiations this year, this means that for now, researchers will need to access new Elsevier articles through alternative
means, including interlibrary loan. To see a list of the affected journals, and for tips on how to access new Elsevier articles, please see this
<a href="https://researchguides.uoregon.edu/oa/elsevier-alternatives">Alternative Access to Elsevier Articles</a> page. Note that we will retain access to the content of the listed journals published through December 2022.

<p class="MsoNormal">I also wanted to alert you to a change in our interlibrary loan procedures. Rather than logging into your separate ILLiad account, you will now be able to request articles, book chapters, and books from within
<a href="https://alliance-uoregon.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/account?vid=01ALLIANCE_UO:UO">
LibrarySearch</a>. The goods news is that you’ll now be able to see and manage all your library requests in one place rather than having to keep track of two accounts. You can find details on how to submit interlibrary loan and other requests on the
<a href="https://researchguides.uoregon.edu/requesting/ill">Requesting at UO Libraries</a> page.

session with your class or by creating instructional materials that can be shared in Canvas (this could be a handout, a video, a module, a custom
<a href="http://researchguides.uoregon.edu/prf.php?account_id=121286">research guide</a>, etc.) We also have preexisting
<a href="https://researchguides.uoregon.edu/tutorials">tutorials</a> that cover some library basics.
