Dear Faculty and Staff,

I am eager to see everyone in person again soon. I do hope that many of you will be able to attend our annual back to school luncheon on the Kendall, otherwise known as HEDCO, plaza. Be assured that Lisa Fortin and her crew are continuously
adapting the event as required to meet health and safety guidelines.

I am also pleased to announce another full-time career-track faculty hire. Sheree Jederberg, EdD, will be joining us as a lecturer in educational leadership. Sheree will be working with EMPL faculty and across the college to redesign our
principal training programs. She comes to us from New Mexico Highlands University where she served as interim dean, associate dean, and department head. Dr. Jederberg also brings extensive K-12 leadership experience to this role including, positions as English
teacher, principal and associate superintendent in California, site superintendent in Abu Dhabi, and assistant superintendent in New Jersey. She currently holds administrative licensure/certification in California and New Jersey. Dr. Jederberg received her
doctorate in education leadership from USC, master’s degrees from San Diego State University, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of California at San Diego.

Sheree’s extensive experience in K-12 education, knowledge of national and international practices and challenges, and higher education leadership experience will all be put to good use as the college’s liaison to the Oregon Teacher Standards
and Practices Commission (TSPC). After a period of mentoring and onboarding, Sheree will lead all TSPC activities for our educator preparation programs. Please join me in welcoming Sheree to our community of scholars.

The adoption of TSPC duties by Sheree will allow Dr. Julie Wren to transition to leading and launching the new Student Academic Services (SAS) office in HEDCO 130. The SAS office will become a “one-stop shop” for students seeking undergraduate
advising, scholarship and graduate school information, and international student guidance.

As Lisa Fortin announced today, the upcoming SAS open house will be informative and fun. Our academic advisors, graduate recruitment, scholarship, and international staff will be on hand. And, from noon to 1 pm the UO Duck will join the
assembled for the official launch of the SAS. As would be expected from Lisa, there will be ample refreshments and a prize drawing. Please see the details about the open house and other events of interest in the “Updates and Upcoming” section.
