<p class="MsoNormal">I second is an older piece written for the <i>Association of American Colleges and Universities</i>. This piece describes the successful experience of ten students of color attending “white” liberal arts colleges. The students reported
 satisfaction with their entire educational experience, ranging from their study abroad term to the research mentoring received from their professors. Their stories, however, are fictitious. Harper effectively uses this literary device for illuminating, “<i>what
 is possible</i> when educators and administrators take seriously the responsibility of engaging diverse student populations in educationally purposeful ways.”
