<p class="MsoNormal">Please see the attached Institutional Hiring Plan (IHP) documents submitted on behalf of our college. The attachments include my cover letter, which details the process for identifying the four proposals submitted for university consideration.
The four faculty proposals are also appended. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I wish to add that the IHP decision-making process was more challenging this year. Among other considerations, we weighed knowledge of the likely constrained size of the overall IHP, competition with other colleges that have experienced
more retirements and turnover in the past year, and intense scrutiny of operational metrics such as, student demand, positive enrollment trends in masters and undergraduate programs, and academic program student access and success information. Personally,
I appreciate the vision our faculty have created for the college by identifying needed areas of scholarship and innovation and, as in previous years, regret not being able to submit all eight proposals in this year’s competition. I will share with you what
I shared with the Department Heads that, regardless of which positions are ultimately funded in the IHP, we will continue to look for opportunities to meet the needs and goals that were identified in this process. I appreciate the time and effort devoted to
thinking about the faculty hires needed to move the college forward. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">In the meantime, I will remain optimistic about our prospects at the next levels of review. I think that the quality of our submissions will lead to more opportunities to hire this year.<o:p></o:p></p>
