The Weekly Vol. 7 #11

Dean's Message

Dear COE community,

I look forward to seeing to seeing many of you at our Faculty and Staff Meeting this Friday, December 5th from 12:15-1:45pm in HEDCO 220 or on Zoom. For those joining in person, we will have some festive refreshments available starting at noon in 230T. So please come a few minutes early, grab some food/drink, and enjoy a good conversation with your colleagues before the meeting begins.

This week I'd also like to give a special shout-out to our fantastic COE Communications team: Julianne (Juls) Davis and Emily Barker. They work tirelessly on maintaining and improving our COE website, social media, and other communication products, and serve as our liaisons with central UO communications. Our COE team is widely considered an exemplar on campus, leading the way in website accessibility, innovative digital communication strategies, and social media presence.

With the unfortunate elimination of the COE Communications Director position as part of our college's budget reductions this summer, I am incredibly grateful for all the work Juls and Emily are doing to maintain high-quality communications for our college. With this change on the team, Juls and Emily are now directly reporting to the dean. I encourage faculty and staff to reach out to them directly with any communications-related requests, specifically:

  * directly emailing Juls at juls at uoregon.edu<mailto:juls at uoregon.edu> with any requests related to the website,
  * directly emailing Emily at ebarker8 at uoregon.edu<mailto:ebarker8 at uoregon.edu> with any requests related to the HEDCO digital screens or developing video content, and
  * emailing the role account coesocial at uoregon.edu<mailto:coesocial at uoregon.edu> for social media content recommendations.

Thank you, Juls and Emily, for all that you do to support our college!

Best wishes,

Emily

Updates and Upcoming

UO Quiet Period: December 25-January 1

University leadership encourages all units to observe the quiet period whenever possible. Although the university will remain open, we ask that operations during this time be limited to essential activities. I encourage everyone to pause non-urgent emails and messages during the quiet period. This helps those taking leave to more fully rest and recharge and gives those who continue working a chance to focus without the usual flurry of tasks, emails, Teams chats, and phone calls.
