Dear COE Community,
I have student success on my mind and I want to celebrate the College of Education faculty and staff for their work supporting students - in the classroom, in community placements, in research endeavors, in advising, and through our day-to-day work building community. This is the time of the term that is often busiest for faculty, staff, and students. We are exhausted (and the rainy, gloomy weather isn't helping), but we are rounding the corner and getting closer to winter break. Your work matters. Thanks for supporting students.
Last night I attended a lovely celebration of STEM education and participated in the Noyce Scholars ceremony. The Noyce Scholars program is an NSF-funded program that supports math and science students on their journey to becoming teachers. This program supports intensive summer research opportunities and creates pathways for CAS undergrads to pursue middle/secondary teacher ed programming through UOTeach. Kudos to Jenefer Husman (PI of the project), and EDST faculty Julie Heffernan, Katie Fitch, Joanna Goode, Jenny Ruef and CAS faculty/STEM Core Bryan Rebar and Dean Livelybrooks for their deep engagement and support of this program. The collaboration and partnership we have with CAS, and math and science faculty in particular, is really special and creates and wonderful training opportunity for future STEM educators. Keep up the great work UOTeach and affiliated faculty! I love this event and appreciate the opportunity to celebrate the scientific discoveries of our students and encourage their full engagement in teacher preparation in our college.
I appreciate the faculty, staff, and students who have engaged in our campus visits and made our tenure track searches go smoothly thus far! Huge thanks to the search committees of the CPHS and EDST committees (CPHS: Beth Stormshak (co-chair), Jen Doty (co-chair), Cindy Huang, Anne Marie Mauricio, and Lillian Duran; EDST: Ilana Umansky (chair), David Liebowitz, Edward Olivos, & Gina Biancarosa). I also want to extend my gratitude to Amy Green and Amy Kalani for assisting with logistics for candidate visits.
This is a busy time of year, but one that is gratifying as we host our future colleagues.
Thank you, COE Community, for your work. I appreciate you!
Warmly,
Laura Lee

Two tracks are available: Track 1 for single PI awards for up to 1 year of funding (up to $25,000) and Track 2 for multiple PI awards for up to 2 years of funding (up to $50,000). Eligible applicants are tenure-track faculty and career research faculty with 0.50+ FTE appointments during the academic year of the research award, and with the classification of research associate, research professor, research scientist, research engineer, principal research scientist, professor of practice (primary duties in research), or librarian.
