Dear COE Community,

Thank you for embracing our shared humanity and for creating educational spaces that are equitable, just, and compassionate. As President Scholz shared in his message to campus<https://president.uoregon.edu/addressing-free-speech-safety-and-current-events> today, “We are living in an extraordinary moment in which people at universities across the nation—including on our own campus—are expressing their passionate views about the ongoing conflict and devastating loss of human life in the Middle East and particularly in Gaza.” I would encourage you to read his message<https://president.uoregon.edu/addressing-free-speech-safety-and-current-events> in its entirety as it articulates the University of Oregon’s commitment to community, centering on the value of people, free speech and campus safety, and the free exchange of ideas.

Thank you for being an important member of our COE community and for supporting education, our students, and each other.

Warmly,
Laura Lee

Step Away | Prioritize Self-Care During Busy Times
It’s a busy time of year. We all have a lot to do. As the weather improves but our workloads continue to stagger and the pressures of our roles mount in varied ways, please take a moment to step away. Take lunch outside or take a break with a colleague. Step into nature alone or make a personal phone call. These are simple things that we all do sporadically and at our own discretion, but these simple acts of self-care are endorsed and encouraged. It’s easy to forget ourselves during the workday and to get pulled into the routines, cycles, and calendar demands that drive us. We’re all just a little bit better if we make time to remember ourselves too.
