The Monthly Vol. 4 #1

Dear COE Community,

It’s officially summer, but things are still moving along in the College of Education. Shout out to the faculty and staff who are engaged in supporting students who are enrolled in our summer programs, including Couples and Family Therapy, Communication Disorders and Sciences, UOTeach, Education Policy, and the myriad other programs that offer summer classes. Beyond instruction and summer support for students, many faculty and staff take time during summer for grant writing, research, and scholarly writing. Whatever you summer brings, I sincerely hope that you can enjoy a different pace and all the summer season has to offer.

Sending you sunny wishes,

Laura Lee

Updates and Upcoming:

Welcome new Executive Assistant to the Dean
I’m thrilled to announce that Amy Kalani (she/her) has joined our COE Community as executive assistant to the Dean. Prior to joining COE, Amy worked at UO's Accessible Education Center overseeing the implementation of disability accommodations across campus. Before coming to the University of Oregon in 2022, Amy worked in international adoption for 10 years in various administrative, social worker, and program director roles. She has a bachelor's in sociology and psychology from UO and a master's in social work from Portland State University. Outside work, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs. Fun fact about Amy: she appeared as a contestant on Wheel of Fortune in 2017. Although it didn’t end in fame, glory, and riches (she solved two toss up puzzles but landed on bankrupt twice), she will never forget the experience! Amy’s office is in the HEDCO 230 suite and she can be reached via educationdean at uoregon.edu<mailto:educationdean at uoregon.edu>
