Hello,

Thank you to those who have set up a payroll deduction or donated to our online giving page. The College of Education has passed last year’s goal, and are now only $150 away from this year’s goal of $2,000!

Currently, the university has reached 71,787 meals equivalent for the UO Governor’s Food Drive, 55% of the total goal of 130,000 meals! Here’s how you can help us reach our goal during week 3 of the Governor’s State Employee Food Drive.

Consider donating in an amount that feels appropriate to your situation: For some, this might be a one-time donation at about the cost of eating out for lunch, $10-15. If 5% of UO employees gave like this, we could raise almost $5,000—the equivalent of 15,000 meals. Donate through our online giving site https://www.givegab.com/teams/college-of-education<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.givegab.com/teams/college-of-education__;!!C5qS4YX3!H9HZUnVbLZ6EXw5NTQ40B_M2NiX-2sF5gawoPj5UjcdHpn1qmg_W2IyB6LDUlth6BjVB6EwaPpW0vD2MO1435g$>, with the quick ‘Make a donation’ button (or ‘Join team’ if you intend to solicit donations from others on behalf of the food drive).

You can also consider meeting the “Governor’s Challenge,” which asks employees to donate the equivalent of $15 per month. Payroll deductions<https://forms-b.uoregon.edu/form/launch/governor-state-employee-food-drive> are an easy way to automate this gift, setting up either a one-time donation or monthly recurring donations.

How to donate non-perishable foods for the UO Governor’s Food Drive
Though monetary donations give regional food banks more flexibility to meet emerging needs, FOOD for Lane County also accepts shelf-stable food to diversify food options supplied to partner agencies like the Student Food Pantry<https://basicneeds.uoregon.edu/food/>. There are food barrels dotted across campus<https://uoregon.sharepoint.com/:x:/s/O365_GovernorsFoodDrive637/EXpk8z_LQXJHvCrayBpv7FAB8_FEy-pxyYzEC_p2qYxUOg?e=nJPM2v>, including our food barrel in HEDCO 130 where you can donate non-perishable, nutritious food.

No matter how you donate, whether it’s online giving, payroll deduction, or to the food barrel you get your name entered into a drawing for a $30 Sweet Life gift card and other COE Swag! If you drop by with food for the food barrel, please ask the receptionist for a form so we can get you entered. Names from monetary donations will be collected online.

Thanks,
Lisa Fortin and Sarah Haffner
