coe-staff: Donate to the State Employees Food Drive!

Good morning!

Donate to the State Employees Food Drive and get your name entered into a drawing for a $30 Sweet Life gift card and other COE Swag!  If you drop by with food for the food barrel, please ask the receptionist for a form so we can get you entered.  Names from monetary donations will be collected online.

The food drive steering committee sets an overall goal for each year’s food drive (130,000 meals for 2024), but this year they would also like to encourage more participation in the food drive. Last year, a couple hundred UO employees raised almost $54,000—how much could we raise to make a difference right here in our community if more of us donated, even if those individual donations are relatively small?

Consider donating in an amount that feels appropriate to your situation:  For some, this might be a one-time donation at about the cost of eating out for lunch, $10-15. If 5% of UO employees gave like this, we could raise almost $5,000—the equivalent of 15,000 meals. Donate through our online giving site https://www.givegab.com/teams/college-of-education, with the quick ‘Make a donation’ button (or ‘Join team’ if you intend to solicit donations from others on behalf of the food drive).

You can also consider meeting the “Governor’s Challenge,” which asks employees to donate the equivalent of $15 per month. Payroll deductions<https://forms-b.uoregon.edu/form/launch/governor-state-employee-food-drive> are an easy way to automate this gift, setting up monthly recurring donations.

Our food drive barrel (see attached photo) in HEDCO 130, is looking for some good food donations!  We are looking for high-protein, shelf stable foods like canned meats and fish, stews, chilis, broths, and peanut butter.  Donate something you might like to eat – maybe jarred marinara sauce and pasta or canned beans and a spice packet.
