“Can Health Policies be Effective Education Policies? Charting A Vision to Advance Equity Using Educational Data Science”
In this talk, I will provide a brief overview of the three key strands of my research. Then, I will demonstrate how I use quantitative research methods for policy analysis with specific focus on my research examining the interconnectedness of health and education policies. Specifically, I will describe findings from recent research where I examined the impact of the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansions for low-income parents on children’s educational outcomes. Building on those findings and implications, I will conclude by mapping out my vision for a robust policy-relevant, research and teaching agenda that centers data science techniques in the advancement of educational equity.

This presentation is part of an on-campus interview for the Petrone Professorship in Educational Data Science<https://careers.uoregon.edu/en-us/job/532430/petrone-professorship-in-educational-data-science-associate-or-full-professor> in the Department of Education Studies.
