The Counseling Psychology and Human Services department invites you to attend a colloquium presented by Dr. April Thomas
Thursday, January 19, 2023
11:00am - 12:00pm

In-person in HEDCO 230T or via Zoom (link below)

"Exploring adolescent risk and delinquency through a developmental lens"
Dr. Thomas' presentation will touch on the following topics:

  1.  Aspects of development that contribute to increased risk taking and delinquency in the teen years.
  2.  The connection between sleep and risk behavior.
  3.  Using developmental science to change policies in a way that improves outcomes for youth.
There will be a question and answer session following the presentation and an opportunity to provide your feedback.

This presentation is part of an on-campus interview for the Assistant Professor in Applied Prevention and Health Promotion<https://careers.uoregon.edu/cw/en-us/job/530175> in the Department of Counseling Psychology and Human Services.

About Dr. Thomas
April Thomas is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at The University of Texas at El Paso. Her research utilizes a developmental framework to understand adolescent risk behavior and delinquency, as well as explore how developmental science can be utilized to improve the stage-environment fit of existing systems and structures (i.e., school, justice system, legal policies) for youth. Dr. Thomas earned her PhD in Developmental Psychology at the University of California Irvine and has an MS in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University.
