Hello,
If you were waiting until the end of the month to participate in the Governor’s Food Drive you have just a little over a week left! As of right now, the UO has raised $13,874 through the online giving site, Raisin, and another $13,251 committed through payroll deductions. Combined with the food collected for the student pantry at last week's event, this is the equivalent of 81,400 meals!

2 special things to note:

Pandemic expanded SNAP benefits expire across the country at the end of February. This will be the first time since April 2020 that SNAP allotments will be cut back to pre-pandemic levels. When SNAP is reduced, individuals and families have to make new choices with limited funds--gas? rent? utilities? food? childcare? It's very likely that local food banks like FOOD for Lane County will see an increased need for emergency food and other assistance.

There's one more event focused on collecting food for the Student Food Pantry, this Wednesday at the Student Food Pantry (Grace Lutheran Church, 18th and Hilyard) from 11:00-4:30. You can drive thru and drop off your food, so they make it easy for you! 100% of the food donated at this event goes to the UO Student Food Pantry.

How to donate:

  1. One-time or recurring payroll deductions can be set up through UO Forms<https://forms.uoregon.edu/document/launch/governors-state-employees-food-drive>. (If you set up a monthly recurring donation in 2021, that ends this month!) You can designate which Oregon regional food bank you would like to receive your donation through this option. Your DUO login will be required.

  1. Donate with a credit or debit card online at the COE Food Drive website<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/fflc.akaraisin.com/ui/UOGov22/t/f7f38ef0931a40d781370561ebc1703c__;!!C5qS4YX3!WE8c4vL4moTfL6LrDkESun5xLPYFMd8T8d2G_zo7hHxH5LQwZTe8_yXczjz20IZtoA$>. You don’t have to be a member of the team to donate, just click on the donate link.

  1. You can find a food barrel in the HEDCO lobby to donate shelf stable items to FOOD for Lane County.

Thanks,
Lisa And Sarah
