The following message is sent on behalf of Dr. Brigid Flannery, Dr. Kent McIntosh, Dr. Deanne Unruh, and other COE friends of Roz Slovic:


Dear COE Faculty and Staff,



We are sorry to share news of the passing of Roz Slovic on Saturday, March 5th 2022, of pancreatic cancer. Roz was a research assistant at ECS for over 25 years and served as coordinator for many projects in ECS related to adolescents with disabilities and their families. During and beyond her time at ECS, she maintained an active role in the community, focusing on a few key areas: helping others, spreading peace, and promoting environmental and social justice. Her most recent work was with the Refugee & Immigrant Services Steering Committee for the Refugee Resettlement Coalition of Lane County. Those of us who knew Roz can easily say she was kind and thoughtful and effortlessly pushed us to be better people. Roz was an amazing human and contributor to ECS specifically to families and youth with disabilities and the field of secondary transition.

We know that Roz had many friends among the COE and so we wanted to share the following information regarding a Celebration of Life that has been planned by Roz's family.

Subject: Celebration of Life for Roz Slovic

Friends,

There will be a Celebration of Life for Roz Slovic on Sunday, April 3rd, at Kidsports in Eugene, Oregon. Kidsports is located at 2054 Amazon Parkway. Parking is available near the building or across the street at South Eugene High School. The doors will open at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time, and the program will be from 2:00 to 4:00. Please dress casually.

There will be some pre-designated speakers, but we will also allocate time for friends to share their stories about Roz and to mingle with other attendees. For those who cannot attend in person, we hope to livestream the event over Zoom and possibly to record it as well.

We encourage attendees to bring their own non-disposable water bottles.

Please help us spread the word about this event to others who might like to attend. We are trying to reach as many people as possible within Roz's various circles of friends and colleagues, so please don't be surprised if you receive this notice more than once, especially if you knew Roz through multiple connections.
