Dear Faculty and Staff,
UO Communications is engaged in an ongoing effort to create a unifying identity for all social media communication platforms and websites. The elements of this work were released this morning by the UO central communications office. Our College will be using the elements with a white background and green O (file attached). Juls has been working closely with various research unit representatives today to implement this new identity. Juls and Emily will be happy to work with your staff as implementation proceeds.
Stay warm,
Randy
Updates and Upcoming:
* Doughnuts for Ducks: Please join your friends and colleagues at the College of Education’s Doughnuts for Ducks on Thursday, March 3 from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm. Stop by, grab a Voodoo doughnut and a cup of coffee and say hi! In order to increase social distancing, we’ll be serving the doughnuts outside under the walkway in the HEDCO courtyard instead of the lobby. Other important safety information:
* Hand sanitizer will be available.
* Face coverings can be removed while actively eating, but please keep them on while in line and picking up food.
* Wash your hands prior to eating.
* Please stay home if you have any symptoms leading up to and/or during the day of the event. The Symptom Self Check tool<https://symptomcheck.uoregon.edu/> may be used as a guide.
* Black History Month Slide Submission Winners: The slides that were submitted in acknowledgement of Black History Month have now been uploaded for display on the COE digital screens! Please watch the digital screens in the COE buildings for informative slides submitted by COE programs regarding some of the work and opportunities they are engaging in, or individuals they are celebrating in their discipline, that align with the spirit of Black History Month. Congratulations to the winning groups the SPED faculty group (led by Dr. Rhonda Nese) and the CDS faculty group (led by Miyoko Patricelli). With gratitude for the thoughtful and illuminating submissions! Submitted slides have also been posted to the COE DEI website<https://education.uoregon.edu/diversity-equity-and-inclusion>.
* Opportunity to Support EDLD 652 Student Data Projects: This year, in EDLD 652: Data Visualization (taught by Dr. Daniel Anderson), we partnered with USAFacts. USAFacts provided us with data, and our students built their final project around that data. On Monday March 7th, 2022 2:00 – 4:00pm HEDCO 142, we will have a “competition”, where students (who opted into the competition) will present for about 20 minutes on their final project to a group of three external judges: one from UO (Ellen Peters), one from USAFacts, and one from Industry (Alison Hill: https://www.apreshill.com/). We would love COE participation to support our students and see their great work. See attached flier for Zoom information.
Accolades:
* Stephanie Shire was published in ASHA Wire<https://pubs.asha.org/doi/10.1044/2021_PERSP-21-00222> for a new pilot study on technological adaptations of early intervention programs.
