I appreciate the time and care that faculty, staff, and students are putting into all our faculty searches this fall. We are hoping to hire several new tenure track faculty this round to join our college next academic year. Expanding the faculty expertise in our college, as well as expanding the backgrounds and perspectives of our faculty, benefits our students, our community, and strengthens our impact.
Thank you all for a wonderful fall term. It seems like just yesterday that we gathered together outside of HEDCO for our dean's welcome luncheon. As we head into winter break, this edition will be the last Weekly of the calendar year. We will resume with Volume 4 starting on January 11th, 2023. Please continue to send Amanda Boehringer (amanda2 at uoregon.edu<mailto:amanda2 at uoregon.edu>) any noteworthy events, reminders, and accolades to share in upcoming issues. I would especially love to highlight staff in our next edition.
Speaking of Amanda Boehringer...huge thanks to her support of me in my role as interim dean and the many tasks she has taken on to help the efficiency of the dean's office. I also want to give a shout out to Mariah Deguzman who has expanded some of her work to include a number of aspects of our college portfolio - from curriculum committee to licensure to support of our associate and assistant deans - thanks to Mariah for commitment to quality and dedication to our COE team! We have amazing staff!
I hope each of you enjoys a bit of time off this winter break and that you're able to experience a moment of joy, peace, and connection with others. It is our connections to others - and the world around us - that makes us uniquely human.
Sending my warmest wishes this season and my heartfelt appreciation for you and the work you do to make our College of Education community special.
Laura Lee
