Subject: coe-fac: COE/TEP session "re-orientation" Friday September 24th 1:00 - 3:00

Dear Faculty and Staff,

We are looking forward to seeing you at the September 24th “re-orientation”. This session will be hosted by the Teaching Engagement Program (TEP) and will be of particular relevance to instructional faculty who will be teaching in-person classes this Fall. However, all faculty and staff are welcome to attend as TEP faculty will also be sharing some general information that might be useful to all and there will be a shared opportunity for reflection and Q&A at the end.

The session will be hosted on Friday, September 24, 1-3:00pm via Zoom: https://uoregon.zoom.us/j/98790502311 and will be recorded for those with conflicting commitments.

This will be a chance, particularly for faculty teaching face-to-face courses, to come together to learn essential information that will be useful during this transition quarter. Among other things, the session will highlight:

  *   University COVID-19 policies related to classrooms and teaching;
  *   Academic Council policies and guidance;
  *   Technology-aided teaching support;
  *   Practical strategies for enacting flexibility and teaching and learning masked;
  * Ideas for supporting student wellbeing and success—with the help of the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling Services, and UESS.
Please use the registration link below to let TEP know if you plan to join:

Individuals will be able to weigh in via chat to post questions, share ideas, and draw on the support resources that TEP has compiled for the quarter / year ahead.

In addition to this session, faculty and staff are also encouraged to seek out any of the UO hosted sessions available from UO Online and Information Services:

Support from UO Online
UO Online is hosting workshops and drop-in office hours during zero week. Help is available in a variety of formats! See the full range of support options here<https://teaching.uoregon.edu/uo-online-canvas-support-fall-2021-week-0>.

Support from Information Services
Information Services is hosting 45-minute classroom support trainings to help you get familiar with you classroom technology: schedule these using this Microsoft Bookings link<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/ISClassroomSupportWinterTrainings@uoregon.edu/bookings/__;!!C5qS4YX3!T_YMaFJAVO7YzzT7p2LCXtEvRLfvBfhlDnDrLYkpm99AZ_0EL0H95-4Ydcuxpv_8og$>. As you think about how you will support students who miss class, you can still rely on the good practices you've used in the past (sharing notes and slides, say). Know, too, that new technology in UO classrooms makes it possible to record live sessions<https://service.uoregon.edu/TDClient/2030/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=101835> or even allow students to Zoom in<https://service.uoregon.edu/TDClient/2030/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=113753>.

Best,

Dianna
