Subject: Updates

Hi All

I know you are bombarded with communication but I wanted to update you on a few things.

First, the Academic Council approved changes to 3 academic policies to provide some relief to students during this uncertain time. This will be communicated to students in a message to go out today. Details are attached and we’d appreciate you sharing it with your faculty and GEs.

Second, Lee Rumbarger and her team are working on a communication that will go out to faculty each week during the term. This will be a short, timely update, checklist, resource communication. It will sometimes contain specific To Do items that faculty need to attend to. For instance, in the week one communication, faculty will be asked to create a “trackable” academic engagement on Canvas. This is critical for us to comply with Federal Financial Aid policies.

Finally, as we move to remote for all of Spring term, many more questions are coming up about how to manage this. Please let me know if you have specific concerns or ideas.

Thanks to you all and please send our thanks to your faculty and staff for all the work you are doing and the way you are doing it. I’ve been so impressed by the willingness to just do what needs to be done to serve our students, and the generosity of spirit among us as we forge ahead.
