The following message is sent on behalf of SOURCE (the Students of Underrepresented Races, Cultures, and Ethnicities of the College of Education group).

Program Directors are asked to see the content and share with their students. This invitation applies to eligible students, faculty, and staff:

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We want to reach out to you in response to the ongoing acts of horrifying racial injustice, murder, and oppression of the Black community. Our hearts are heavy as we continue to be flooded with the sorrow and hardships inundating the lives of our fellow communities of color. We know many students, faculty, and staff are grieving the continued loss of humanity. We want to acknowledge the lives of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and countless others.

The Students of Underrepresented Races, Cultures, and Ethnicities (SOURCE) of the College of Education publicly denounce these senseless acts of violence targeting Black and Brown lives and offer a place of healing, support and acknowledgment for our communities of color.

To this end, we have scheduled some time on Friday, June 5th from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm, for faculty, staff, and students of color to come together for support and to shed light on the atrocities that have been disturbing us for too long. If you know someone in need of support during this time, please invite them to join us.

Please note, this event is intended to be helpful inclusive and supportive for those joining. Any comments or acts of racism or discrimination will be addressed immediately.

In solidarity,
