coe-staff: COE SOURCE Student Lunch Symposium

Dear College of Education Students,

Welcome back!

The Students of Underrepresented Races, Cultures, and Ethnicities (SOURCE) are hosting a STUDENT LUNCH SYMPOSIUM starting this winter!

The purpose of the Student Lunch Symposium is to provide an opportunity for students to practice and hone their presentation skills in front of a friendly group of College of Education peers and colleagues, while showcasing their research or other academic findings.

The symposium will be held about once monthly, until further notice, as we gauge interest and solidify the format.


  *   Who may participate? Any College of Education student may participate as a presenter.
  *   How do I sign up to present? To request a spot, please complete the form Presentation Request for COE Student Symposium Series<https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_e4izwNXdU0nM8u1> to answer a brief set of questions about what you will be sharing, and what type of feedback you are hoping to receive.
  *   What is the process for participation? Once you sign up, wait to hear from one of the organizers who will let you know your presentation date and slot from those you selected. Once confirmed, bring (or share in advance) the materials you plan to present. Present to a COE open audience for 8 - 10 minutes on the research or academic topic of your choice.
  *   How do I sign up as an audience member and provide feedback? Just show up! You do not need to submit this document if you are joining as a member of the audience who will be providing constructive feedback. Feedback materials will be provided when you arrive. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend to support our students.
  *   When is the first symposium opportunity? Our first Symposium opportunity is Friday January 17th, at 1:30pm.
  *   Where? HEDCO 230T.
  *   Will I get credit? This is not currently associated with any academic credit. As always, check with your instructor or advisor if you have questions about how this may be associated with your coursework.
  *   I can't sign up for the first one, but can I sign up for a future event? Yes. Use the presentation request form to select the date that you would like to arrange your presentation. Depending on the level of interest, slots will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. If you sign up for a future event, consider attending an earlier event to support your peers and to get a sense of the format.
