Dear COE Community,
The UO Research Compliance Services office will offer two sessions on February 28th in HEDCO 230T on the topic of conducting human subject research involving children and/or teens. This training should be informative and useful for anyone planning to conduct research with children or youth. You can register for attendance through MyTrack (UO Employees) or by contacting the RCS office directly at researchcompliance at uoregon.edu<mailto:researchcompliance at uoregon.edu>.

This session is designed to support students, faculty and staff who currently involve or are interested in involving children and/or teens as participants in research. Staff from Research Compliance Services (RCS) will review ethical considerations, best practices for research on minors, and discuss the basics of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) review process. The session will provide researchers with ample opportunity to ask questions about individual research projects.

RCS staff will also touch on the impacts of newer sponsor requirements on the conduct of human subject research, the impact of the UO Protection of Minors Policy on research, and discuss how to find flexibility in the regulations to accomplish sensitive and challenging research with children and teens. The session will provide researchers with ample opportunity to ask questions about individual research projects.
