Dear Faculty and Staff,
As an FYI, the policy review committee was formed this quarter based on nomination and selection and has begun the initial review of the COE Internal Governance Policy https://coedocs.uoregon.edu/display/governance/Internal+Governance+Policies
The committee consists of the following individuals representing faculty in each of the units:
* Kathleen Scalise: EMPL
* Beth Harn: SPECS
* Jerry Rosiek: EDST
* Nichole Kelly: CPHS
* Sarah Stapleton: EDST
* Frank Bender: CPHS
* Judith Newman: ECCARES (Outreach)
The committee is reviewing the policy with an eye to tightening, loosening, or removing language as necessary to improve clarity, and update the document in full consideration of the practical limitations of governance in the college. The committee will also be responsible for recommending a sequence of review for the college's other 7 policies that are up for review this cycle. More information will follow.
The committee plans to follow the approximate timeline below to the extent possible. We will provide updates to this timeline if changes occur:
1) First review committee meeting: January 14th, 2020.
2) Second review committee meeting: February 18th, 2020. Mark-up generated.
3) Marked-up version shared with a small external group of reviewers (selected to complement and strengthen representation): February 28th, 2020.
4) Third review committee meeting: Week of March 16th, 2020. Discuss input from external group and timeline for review of remaining policies.
5) Fourth review committee meeting: Discuss additional edits and final line edits approved: Week of April 6th, 2020.
6) Share marked-up policy and sequence of reviews with COE faculty and staff: Week of April 10th, 2020.
* Two week review. Edits, questions, comments consolidated and combined.
* Town Hall meeting: Week of April 27th, 2020
7) Fifth review committee meeting: Week of May 4th, 2020. Consolidate final edits.
8) Submit recommendation to Dean: Week of May 15th, 2020
Best,
Dianna
