This is a reminder to check out the final session in the 2018-2019 seminar series in the department of Educational Methodology, Policy, and Leadership! See the attached flyer for details. Some light refreshments will be offered to those who attend, but Zoom connection will be available for off-campus attendees as well.

The seventh and final session of the EMPL Seminar Series will be Friday, June 7. Associate Professor Keith Zvoch will be presenting:
Strong Quasi-experimental Design Alternatives
Although the randomized control trial (RCT) provides the most straightforward route to causal inference, practical and ethical concerns can make its implementation in field-based settings challenging. In this presentation, Associate Professor Keith Zvoch will discuss the regression discontinuity (RD) and interrupted time series (ITS) design, two strong and practical alternatives to the RCT. The presentation will outline RD and ITS design requirements and assumptions, and discuss how inferential strength can be evaluated and further enhanced by incorporating additional design elements (e.g., multiple cutpoints, multiple treatment replications, non-equivalent dependent variables).
Hope to see you there!
Best,
