Subject: coe-staff: College of Education Budget Reduction Target
The following message is sent on behalf of Dean Randy Kamphaus:
Dear Faculty and Staff,
Please see the attached memorandum from Provost Banavar. The message includes a budget update and cost reduction targets for the various academic units. You will note that our target is now $253,000, which is half of the estimate that I provided you in my email message of March 22. Although this figure represents a significantly lower reduction amount than anticipated, cost reductions of any amount remain challenging.
I write today regarding the faculty and staff consultation processes described in the second to last paragraph of the Provost's message, which includes a tight timeline for obtaining consultation from as many stakeholders as possible. This week, I asked our academic department heads and deans for their advice regarding this consultation process. Our resulting plan includes soliciting advice from the following individuals and groups in the next ten days.
* academic department heads (consulted this past Wednesday)
* CoE Consortium (educator preparation community stakeholders)
* academic program coordinators (two groups will be meeting next week)
* Faculty Advisory Committee (FAC) (individual advice solicited via email)
* Research and Outreach Council (ROC) (meeting next week)
* academic business managers (consulted this past Wednesday)
* CoE fiscal staff (ongoing)
* CoE deans (ongoing)
* All COE town hall (TBD)
If you are not able to participate in any of the opportunities listed above, or if you have some additional feedback or recommendations on the process or priorities, please reach out to Dianna Carrizales-Engelmann with your comments by April 13, 2019.
I thank you for your advice and counsel in the days ahead.
Regards,
Randy
