This message is sent to you on behalf of Dean Randy Kamphaus:

Dear faculty and staff,

In the last several years, UO and the COE have undergone significant changes - in budget expectations, leadership, and priorities. This kind of change is not easy, and it impacts everyone. For this reason, some units on campus have undertaken a work climate assessment of academic units.

Following the lead of some other units on campus, Dianna and I have been working with UO HR to develop a plan for conducting a CoE workplace climate survey of our own. The results of this survey will provide information that will inform a joint action plan with the goal of enhancing our college's workplace climate.

Through UO's HR office, we have access to an external consultant who will objectively develop, facilitate, and analyze the survey. I have asked Dianna Carrizales-Engelmann to guide the process of working with the consultant to conduct the survey and associated action plans that we develop together.

Please be looking for more communication about this survey in the next few weeks. Everyone's feedback is invaluable. Our action plan can only be successful if we hear from all voices in all areas, and at every level within the college. I hope to see 100% participation. Once completed, we will share the final report and facilitate discussions around the results. Our plan is to then repeat this process on a somewhat regular basis to measure success, and also routinely identify additional areas where we can continue to improve our workplace.

Regards,

Randy
