All-
For those of you that are not able to attend the active threat training this past week or unable to attend the other campus wide trainings being offered, the COE will be hosting a training in HEDCO 220 on March 21 at 2pm.
We will be sending out a confirmation to insure that there is adequate seating for all of those that plan on attending.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Please note the recent article in Around the O in regards to active threats https://around.uoregon.edu/content/preparing-active-threat-uo-can-save-lives?utm_source=ato02-27-18 . As noted in the article, the University is offering additional training sessions in case you are unable to attend the one on March 7.

Eric

In light of the tragic events in Florida, we have had several inquiries on how to respond to active threats on campus.
The University Emergency Response team has set up an open registration active threat training in My Track for any interested faculty / staff to join and learn https://uomytrack.pageuppeople.com/learning/2112 Wednesday March 7 10-11 AM at the EMU, Crater Lake South Room.
Currently the best practical advice for active threat scenarios is "Run, Hide, Fight". Here is the link for a video https://safety.uoregon.edu/preparedness-videos that shown in the training.
To summarize the video:
1. Run - if you have a clear exit and are able to do so. Call 911 when you are safe.
2. Hide - if it isn't safe to run, the attacker is nearby, and you have a place to do so.
3. Fight - as a last resort, if the threat is imminent, or if you are able to assist others.
If your department/unit requires additional training, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to coordinate with UOPD and the Emergency Response team.
Regards,
Eric
