The following message is sent on behalf of Dean Kamphaus:
Dear COE Faculty,
The new workload policy is now approved and in effect. Because this policy introduces some significant operational changes from the previous version we will be implementing a task force (as referenced in the pre-amble on page 1) to evaluate the impact of these changes on the strategic priorities of our college. The task force will review policy implementation data for the remainder of the year and will provide me with conclusions and recommendations at the end of Fall 2018. I will invite members of this ad hoc committee based on Department Head request and nomination in the coming week. Meetings will begin later this quarter.
This committee will review faculty feedback and evaluate that against COE data to make recommendations that will inform the next iteration of the policy.
Some of the issues that will likely be reviewed by this committee will include:
* Change in expected teaching load (from a varied course load to a standard load of 8 courses)
* Change in teaching compensation to .10 per 3 - 5 credit course taught
* Change in service expectation for part-time individuals
We have another busy year ahead. I am grateful for your thoughtful service.
Randy
