Dear COE community,
On behalf of the Ad Hoc Committee on College Structure, I wish to thank you for your interest and engagement in our college-wide discussion on the optimal college structure to help us achieve our goals. We had a productive town hall meeting on Friday. The purpose of the meeting was for the committee to hear your questions and concerns and provide a forum for respectful communication. Of primary importance is to have honest faculty input on how we are organized and how we reach our common goals. This requires that people trust the process and feel comfortable participating in the conversation.
A question came up in the meeting about how peoples' names would be used in the Qualtrics survey. Peoples' names help us know that members of the COE community (only) are participating in the survey. Peoples' names help us ensure that folks aren't completing the survey multiple times. That is all people's names will be used for. Department/research and outreach unit affiliations will be included only if respondents choose to fill in questions specifically about those aspects of their work in the COE.
To underscore our efforts to respect this anonymity, I have asked a staff member to remove names from the data and change to ID numbers before providing the raw data to the Ad Hoc committee. Names will be removed from responses and will not be shared with the committee or anyone else. Responses will be disaggregated according to Department, unit affiliation, etc. based only on how respondents explicitly identified themselves. All non-identifying responses will be reported in a category labeled "chose not to identify".
To be clear, there is no predetermined outcome that we (or anyone) has come up with behind closed doors. We need input from stakeholders who know the most about how possible changes to College structure will affect the programs in which they work in order to collectively inform decisions about how best to move forward. Our hope is that we have full engagement in the College and that people feel comfortable providing helpful, constructive, and respectful feedback.
The survey will remain open until Friday 11/2/18.

Laura Lee McIntyre, on behalf of the Ad Hoc Committee on College Structure
