Dear All,

Thank you to those who voted on the proposal to change the policy on COE standing committee membership:

Of the 46 individuals who voted:

  * 37 (80%) voted Yes -- in favor of suspending the practice of having two representatives from each department on each of the college's standing committees.
  * 8 (17%) voted NO -- against changing current practice.
  * 1 (2%) individual abstained from the vote.

This means the proposal is passed and will take effect immediately. When staffing any of the COE standing committees, there will now be greater flexibility in the membership of each committee. Only one representative from each department will be required now (but it does not preclude more than one). This change in policy also does not alter existing practices to foster broad representation of the faculty (both TTF and CNTTF) on standing committees. This policy will be evaluated periodically and reconsidered in Spring of 2021.

Note: COE committee members participate as representatives of their department and so consult as necessary and appropriate with faculty within their department to ensure that their input is representative of their department's position on the topic.
