Vicki Hanson will speak in a program sponsored by the Graduate School and Dept. of Psychology recognizing UO grads who have made contribution outside the usual confines of their field of study.



Her talk is A COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGIST IN COMPUTING



It is very relevant to all graduate and undergrads who might seek to use their training on computer, statistics, big data etc.



Vicki received her PhD in Psychology at U of O in 1978, her work is known both in psychology and in computer science.

She headed a group at IBM on access to computers by those with various sensory and motor handicaps.  She was recently  President of the largest Computer Science Organization in the world the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) she now serves as CEO of that organization she has also served as Distinguished Prof. of Computing at Rochester Institute of Tech and at the University of Dundee in Scotland.

The Institute of Neuroscience Colloquium on Nov. 15 will be by Caitlin Tenison She is a recent PhD from Carnegie Mellon with John Anderson and she is currently a scientist at Soar Inc in Ann Arbor Michigan.



Her talk will be Thursday Nov. 15 at 4 PM in 123 Pacific her title is: Phases of learning: How skill acquisition impacts cognitive processing (abstractrev.docx) (Abstract is attached)
