coe-staff: Teacher Appreciation Week

All,

I cannot let this week pass without reminding myself of the many teachers and mentors who helped me improve my station.  I am grateful for the encouragement of my third grade teacher, Barbara Kaiser, my high school Spanish teacher, Dorothea Dodd, who developed my interests in culture and language, Peter Prunkl, who helped me identify psychology as my undergraduate major, and John D. Nolan, my major professor, who encouraged me to read the original historical documents of my discipline and develop an appreciation of the art of discovery and progress.  There are many other teachers I could name.

I encourage you to do the same this week, and to do better.  Convey your gratitude to those who formed you, particularly the teachers in your life.

Please join me in celebrating teachers.
