coe-staff: new faculty member to begin this fall

Dear Faculty and Staff,

I am pleased to report a successful conclusion to the EMPL faculty search.  The search committee of Gina Biancarosa (chairperson), Dianna Carrizales-Engelmann, Nancy Golden, Charles Martinez, Ilana Umansky, Ben Clarke, Bill Rhoades, and Sunhi Park did an outstanding job during all phases of the search process.  We owe them our gratitude.

David Liebowitz will be joining us from his current position as a policy analyst for the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) in Paris.  He previously served in a variety of leadership, research and teaching roles including, Principal for the Chelsea (MA) Public Schools, Special Policy Advisor to the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Education, and English Teacher for the Boulder Valley School District.  He holds the Ed.D. degree from Harvard University with a concentration in Education Policy, Leadership and Instructional Practice (2015), masters degrees in both Teaching and Learning and School Leadership also from Harvard, and a bachelors degree in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University.  His publications have appeared in Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis and the American Education Research Journal.
