Dear Faculty and Staff,
As promised, we have arranged to have additional onsite grief counseling and staff care options following this Wednesday's very sad news.
Today, Friday, Dec. 7 from 3:30pm - 4:30pm Cascade Centers trained facilitators will be onsite HEDCO 230T to offer group grief counseling (Group Critical Incident Stress Debriefing) to those who would like to pursue it. We encourage you to participate if you feel you will benefit.
A repeat session will be offered on Monday, December 10th from 10:45am - 11:45am also in HEDCO 230T.
Additionally, employees who work at .50 FTE or greater are eligible to receive five free counseling sessions through Cascade Centers. Employees can call Cascade Centers directly at 1-800-433-2320 to schedule in-person or phone sessions.
Please let us know if you have questions.

Dear COE Faculty and Staff,
I am deeply saddened to share news I learned this evening that our colleague Dr. Tasia Smith, an Evergreen Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology and Human Services, and a member of UO's Health Promotion and Obesity Prevention Initiative, was found dead this afternoon in her home. The cause of death is not yet known, and we are not sure how many more details will be provided. During this difficult time, I urge you to please keep Tasia's family and friends in your thoughts.
We are working with HR and the Counseling Center now in order to provide more coordinated onsite grief counseling and staff care, and will update everyone with details as soon as we have them.
In the meantime, for those who are seeking additional support, I remind you of the UO services available:
UO Counseling Center
Students may visit the UO Counseling Center at no cost.
The Counseling Center also provides community referrals to private practitioners who accept insurance or see clients pro bono.

UO Employee Assistance Program
Staff may contact the UO Employee Assistance Program who connect staff and their families with support services.

I offer my deepest condolences and wishes for healing to Tasia's family, her many COE and UO colleagues, and everyone in our COE community.
Randy
