coe-staff: Our University's appreciation for your external funding efforts

Dear Faculty and Staff,

It has been a long summer of grant work for many of you, faculty and staff alike.  I know full well that the two IES submission deadlines alone caused many of you to relinquish too much of your summer.  Please be reassured, however, that it is well known that your efforts are driving the research mission and metrics of our University.  I refer you to Emily's tally of sponsored funding in the PPT slides attached.  Yes, you set a record again this year.

I shared this information with our University administration, and have had numerous subsequent conversations with both internal and external stakeholders about your extraordinary performance.  The sentiments expressed are like those of our OVPRI.

Dear Randy,
Congratulations to you and your faculty for their outstanding external funding performance. COE TTF and NTTF faculty rock!!!! Please convey my appreciation to your faculty for their efforts to attract external support and let me know if there is anything my office can do to help COE acquire even more.

The larger story of the research productivity of our faculty warrants a higher education case study.  Our outsized impact on education, human development, and health promotion is beyond anything that could reasonably be expected from a faculty and staff of our size.  And, as David observed, this record of achievement is only possible because EVERYONE contributes; all of our faculty, research staff, departmental staff, and all academic, research and outreach units.

I will be working with Jessica Roberts and others in the coming weeks and months to tell this remarkable story.

I congratulate you on your many achievements.  I also suggest that you follow the advice of Elena, my dear colleague in Madrid and, "take a rest."
