Dear Faculty and Staff,

As we mentioned at the last faculty meeting, there are a few critical committees on the horizon that are not yet activated (NYA) but that will have an important role as the COE moves through the implementation of any new workload policies. While it's important to acknowledge that some of our recent policies have raised areas of concern that are now moving through various channels of process, our best forward momentum at this time is to proceed according to the policies as they are written and to document, track, and evaluate the outcomes to ensure that any modifications we make move us in the right direction.

To this end, both the TTF and NTTF workload policies were written with a clause requiring that they be reviewed by a task force based on a year of implementation.

Because the workload policies are currently on track towards their full implementation in the 18-19 academic year, we would like to convene these task forces to meet at least once this Spring (if possible) to prepare for a role over the course of next year and the final review of implementation data and information.

Earlier this year we requested nominees for the NTTF Task Force and have received a handful of names from interested individuals (thank you for those initial nominees!).

Given the delay since that request, I am now renewing the NTTF Task Force nominee request to Department Heads and faculty to ensure that we have coverage from faculty in each department. I am also initiating the TTF Task Force nominee request to Department Heads and faculty for a group that will be conducting similar work.

Please send me nominees indicating which committee the nominee would be appropriate for by April 30th 2018. The NTTF committee will ideally consist of 1 faculty member from each department (3 NTTF, 1 TTF). The TTF committee will ideally consist of 1 faculty member from each department (3 TTF, 1 NTTF)

Department Heads are encouraged to use whatever selection process makes the most sense to put forward either a single nominee based on department input, or a short list of department nominees for selection at the dean's office.

While this is a busy time for governance in the college, we look forward to engaging in this important work in conjunction with the other work that is currently ongoing. I am attaching the list of committees that I shared at the last faculty meeting. Please feel free to follow up with me with any questions you may have.

Dianna
