coe-staff: search for Interim Dean for Academic Affairs

Dear Faculty,

I am most grateful for the leadership of Professor Krista Chronister in her role as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.  Krista will be taking a sabbatical leave from January 2019 until the beginning of the next Fall Quarter in September 2019.  I am searching for an interim appointment to fill her role while she is a away.  This would be a great opportunity for someone who wishes to consider serving in an associate dean role at sometime in the future.

In the spirit of allowing our next faculty Associate Dean for Academic Affairs sufficient time to prepare for the scope of the role, I would like to open the nomination process now. Kindly make nominations to me, per our policy below, by 5 pm, Friday, April 20.  Self-nominations will be accepted.  I will then request CVs for all qualified candidates per our bylaws reprinted below and begin the selection process.

Associate Deans

The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

The Associate Deans shall be selected by the Dean from COE career faculty
members at the rank of Associate Professor or higher. The Dean shall solicit and consider nominations from representative faculty. Preference for both of these positions shall be given to candidates with the rank of full Professor, Senior Research Associate II of Full Research Professor and
relevant University level experience.
