coe-staff: COE Events Calendar Update

Hello,
Here is a calendar update for the remainder of the upcoming term.  Please note that the Fall Faculty Staff meeting is scheduled from 12:00 pm - 1:45 pm in Clinical Services 250.
The COE Staff Get-together and Lunch will take place immediately after the meeting from 1:45 pm - 3:15 pm.  Let the COE help you make it through the winter doldrums!  Take a trip back to yesteryear and join us for a return to the comfort foods of the past at our Retro Faculty and Staff Get Together Lunch!
Please RSVP by November 22 (the day prior to Thanksgiving break).  The menu will be available as soon as it is finalized - you know you want to be there no matter what we serve! Oregon Students of Color Conference

The Oregon Students of Color Conference provides a safe, inclusive, welcoming space for students of color, which includes queer and trans students of color and allies to express their voices and experiences. We are focused on education around social and political inequalities for students of color that includes a queer justice lens to help establish ways to continue advocacy and progress. Students will interact with community organizations and hear from keynote speakers who have created real change in society. The conference will provide great networking opportunities with hundreds of students of color, queer and trans students of color, and allies from the Pacific Northwest!

TISH HINOJOSA is a singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas. Hinojosa's blend of folk, country, Latino, and pop has an undeniable far reaching appeal, garnering her accolades such as a White House concert at the invitation of President and Mrs. Clinton and teaming up with artists such as Joan Baez, Booker T. Jones, Flaco Jimenez, Pete Seeger, and Dwight Yoakam.

She has recorded as an independent artist as well as for A&M, Warner Bros, and Rounder Records and has been a featured artist on Austin City Limits, A Prairie Home Companion and other NPR programs.

With sixteen CDs to her name, Tish's distinct sound has gained her much critical acclaim. Her latest CD After The Fair, released in 2013, was recorded in Germany and is reflective of her 9 years spent in the Beatles old stomping grounds in Hamburg. Tish has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe and continues to draw a loyal and growing audience. Her website with more information and music is www.mundotish.com.

PINEROS Y CAMPESINOS UNIDOS DEL NOROESTE (P.C.U.N. Farmworkers Union) is based in Woodburn, the center of Oregon's agricultural industry. It is the largest Latino organization in the state, with more than 6,000 members, 98% of whom are Mexican and Central American immigrants. Founded in 1985, its fundamental goal is to empower farmworkers to understand and take action against systematic exploitation and all of its effects. P.C.U.N.'s programs include collective bargaining, Service Center for Farmworkers, "Radio Movimiento" radio station, policy work with the Oregon Legislature, and workplace health projects. This one-day event is a collaboration with UOTeach, district equity partners, and the ODE Equity Unit in which K-12 teachers share resources, practices, and examples from their everyday work to bring together the best of culturally sustaining instructional theories and everyday classroom teacher practice.

It is our hope that through TeachIN you will connect with your social justice teaching colleagues and expand your network of collaborators.
