If there are events you would like to add to this calendar, all you need to do is set up the event as a meeting on your own outlook calendar and invite coeevents at uoregon.edu<mailto:coeevents at uoregon.edu> to the event.  You will receive a confirmation that the event has been added.

DREAMer Ally Training

DREAMer Ally Training for faculty and staff (Registration required at https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6xNfho3RP 3KARcV <https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6xNfho3R P3KARcV> ) - Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 9 am - 1 pm; coffee and lunch served. The training will be offered twice more during 2017-18. Partial attendance at the training cannot be accommodated; all four hours are required of all participants. For more information, contact Justine Carpenter (justcarp at uoregon.edu <mailto:justcarp at uoregon.edu> ). At this training, faculty and staff will explore the unique challenges facing students at the University of Oregon whose immigrant legal status is precarious or unresolved; review the basic laws and policies affecting these students; learn about appropriate referral resources; learn what you should do if immigration come to campus; and receive guidance on how to effectively support DREAMers and identify one or more positive changes that you and your unit can make. After completing the entire four-hour training, participants will have the opportunity to sign a pledge of confidentiality and support, and receive a decal and pin designating them official "DREAMer Allies."

Join us as for a one-day, interdisciplinary festival as we highlight innovation among our students, faculty, and alumni, as well as, the wider Eugene community and connect participants to ideas, resources, and one another to advance entrepreneurial knowledge, opportunities, and shared pursuits.
The UO Innovation Summit is an organized set of activities that will include speaker presentations, interactive exhibits, skill-building workshops, pitch competitions, hackathons, performances, film showings, and art exhibitions all under the theme of 'Innovation'. Activities will highlight the latest trends and thought-leadership across a range of disciplines including science, technology, media, social justice, global issues, arts and literature, sports, music, environment, gender and sexuality, and business.

A final schedule of events and activities offered during the UO Innovation Summit will be posted to the event website in mid-October (http://uoregon.edu/innovation-summit)

Attached you will find details regarding the 2017 Leona Tyler Lecture, Research-informed school-based bullying prevention approaches: Narrowing the research-practice gap.

Our speaker this year is Dorothy Espelage, PhD, Professor of Psychology at the University of Florida. Professor Espelage will review two decades of research on school bullying, sexual violence, teen dating violence, and gender-based harassment. Definitions, prevalence rates, and outcomes will be discussed with a particular focus on translating these research findings into prevention and intervention efforts in schools and communities. Evidence-based prevention programs will be highlighted, and implementation and sustainability issues of school-based programs will also be discussed.

The lecture will occur on Friday, November 10th, at 2:30pm in the Ford Lecture Hall at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Reception to follow. We hope to see you there!
