coe-staff: TTF Workload Policy Draft for Review

Dear COE Faculty,

The TTF Workload Policy Taskforce (Ed Kameenui, Wendy Machalicek, Jerry Tindal, Audrey Lucero, Krista Chronister, Kent McIntosh, Benedict McWhirter, Joe Stevens, Beth Harn; Leslie Leve, Chair) has completed their review and revision of the College of Education's TTF Workload Policy, using guidance from Academic Affairs. This policy was previously submitted to Academic Affairs in 2015, but it was not approved and was returned to the college for revision. The revised draft policy is attached now for your faculty comment and vote. Please provide any feedback you may have by using the Qualtrix survey https://oregon.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_4Z7ny0dFHaKD0MZ and record your vote no later than midnight Monday March 27th, 2017.

Some of the major changes in the document are:

*         TTF Research, Teaching, and Service proportions remain 40% - 40% - 20%

*         Standard course load is 5 courses or equivalent (with additional information around how courses are defined)

*         Incorporation of "or equivalent" language throughout to allow flexibility in implementation

*         Incorporation of Program Director, Department Head, and Dean input on an individual's workload to help ensure equity and transparency in workload assignments

*         Different types of buyout are specified, and the specific buyout percentage has been removed from the policy, to be included in a procedural document

*         Course release section updated and expanded to provide additional guidance around how course releases may be allocated

To provide additional support during your review, Leslie Leve will hold an optional open Q&A session to answer specific questions you may have about the updated policy in advance of registering your comment and vote. This Q&A session will occur on Tuesday March 21st 10:30-11:30, in Hedco 230T.
