All,
If you use a Windows computer or use Banner please be aware of the following two issues:
1. The upcoming versions of Firefox (AKA Mozilla Firefox) will initially create an additional hurdle for accessing Banner and Firefox will ultimately become incompatible with Banner in mid-April. Those of you who are regular Banner users probably know that most current Web browsers are incompatible with Banner, including Chrome, Edge, and Opera. UO Information Services has indicated that Microsoft Internet Explorer will still work with Banner. If you need assistance in using Internet Explorer to access Banner, please contact us at coeit at uoregon.edu.
2. Internet Explorer browser currently has two vulnerabilities that are scheduled to be patched my Microsoft in mid-March. These vulnerabilities make it risky to browse websites not belonging to the University of Oregon, thus, until the patches are applied to your computer(s), we strongly recommend that you only use Internet Explorer for accessing Banner (https://inb.uoregon.edu/) or website belonging to the UO (e.g., http://admissions.uoregon.edu/).
For all COE managed Windows computers, COEIT will be setting the opening homepage for Internet Explorer to the UO Banner website (https://inb.uoregon.edu/) to facilitate working in Banner.
If you have any questions about web browsers and Banner, feel free to come by the Learning Commons (110 HEDCO) or write to us at coeit at uoregon.edu
Sincerely,
