coe-staff: Food Drive Update - Week 4

Hi All -

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our 2017 Food Drive benefiting Food for Lane County<https://foodforlanecounty.org/>. We are entering the fourth and final week!

There's still time to make a donation or sign up for a monthly payroll deduction. Just $12 per month adds up to $144 and 430 meals over the year. If you are interested in payroll deduction, fill out the attached direct deposit form and send it back to me. Otherwise, please continue to donate food and money so we can finish strong. There's even some delicious Euphoria chocolate left for sale at $4 per bag while supplies last!

Don't forget about the food collection bins located in the Hedco lobby and in EMPL and CTL. If the end of February has snuck up on some of you, don't worry - the bins will be out through the end of next week. This is a great opportunity to clear out your pantry of unwanted items while helping families in need. Here are some ideas of nutritious foods that are always needed and appreciated by food pantries:


*        Foods high in protein, such as canned chicken and fish, and canned or dried beans

*        Foods high in nutrients, such as canned vegetables and fruits (with reduced sodium and sugar)

*        Whole grain foods such as brown rice, whole grain cereal, and whole wheat pasta

*        Soups, chilies, and stews (with reduced sodium and fat)

*        100% fruit juice (canned, plastic, or boxed)

*        Unsaturated cooking oils

*        Shelf-stable milk
